eBay Can’t Help But Say

Brand Campaign

Brits. As a nation we're an inhibited bunch. Except when it comes to bargains.

Our compulsion to tell people the story behind a prized item we've bought or sold for an incredible price is irresistible. Even if it's the most inappropriate moment to do so.

That was the insight at the heart of this UK brand campaign for eBay – demonstrating how true value can be found whether you’re buying or selling.

Having landed on some relatable, honest moments, the films were an exercise in crafting dialogue that toes the line between true enthusiasm and raw inappropriateness. They had to feel real and everyday, yet remarkable.

A lot of that also came down to talent. Finding actors that could genuinely deliver that dialogue with aplomb, and a director that knew how to paint the picture in a way that lets the dialogue shine. Luckily, we got both.

What we ended up with was a set of films that opened up a fresh new stream of humour for eBay, and that in turn shifted people's perceptions of the brand.
